In our efforts to reduce the transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in line with recommendations from both the Sussex FA and the government, the club has decided to cancel up coming events which include our fun day scheduled for 16th May and our tournament scheduled for 23rd & 24th May.

Our tournament which was due to be our 30th consecutive, is the club's only fund raising event so we will see a significant shortfall this season. We ask all our coaches and managers to take this into consideration when requesting new kit and equipment for next season and only order what is absolutely necessary. Your support in this would be greatly appreciated.

No final decision has been made with regard to the Awards Evening we hold annually at the civic centre scheduled this year for 17th June. We will keep you all updated.

Committee meetings are also postponed until further notice.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our U10's management team for all the work already done in organising the fun day which promised to be a great day, the Sussex Sixes committee for all their efforts so far and to all our coaches and helpers for their patience at this difficult time.

Thank you

*** Further Update ****

We have issued a further update regarding the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on grassroots football in England.

Following the Government’s announcement yesterday, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that all grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future.

We have also decided to postpone all matches across all FA competitions, including those outside of the professional game, until 3 April.

This also affects all FA grassroots programmes such as Wildcats and, following UEFA’s announcement today that UEFA EURO 2020 will not take place this summer, The FA FIVES. We will be sending further communications to anyone involved in these programmes separately with further details.

We are committed to trying to complete all competition fixtures and will be liaising with the relevant parties to establish appropriate options to do so.

Throughout this period, we have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all. We will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time to provide guidance and support.

We are in regular communication with the Government and the situation within English football at all levels remains under regular review. Further updates will follow as needed.

Thank you for your continued efforts and patience,

The FA

Management Committee Statement

The management committee are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 virus situation and seek advice from the county and national FA bodies.

Some leagues have suspended all matches and tournaments and continue to supply us updates as and when. This is a fast evolving event of unprecedented levels.

Grasshoppers will continue to monitor and advise our coaches, players, spectators, and helpers when we have any further information.
We want to try and keep everyone safe and well and limit the risk to anyone associated with our club.

In light of this please stay away if you feel un-well. Ensure that you stick with the government's advice on hand washing, catching coughs and sneezes. If in doubt, sit out and only return to football when fully fit and well.

We will update again when we have any further information and this will be passed through on our social media channels as well as emails out from our coaches.
